Normally, poker is played with 5-7 players. The game is usually played with two decks of cards that have different back colours. This enables all the players to form a hand using five of the cards from the deck.
The aim of the game is to get the highest ranked hand of cards. The cards are dealt to the players one by one. The player with the best hand wins the pot. In the event of a tie, the highest card breaks the tie.
The dealer cuts the deck and deals the cards to the players. Each player is dealt with seven cards. The players can either pass, call, or raise. If no one calls, the betting phase ends and the cards are discarded.
When the cards have been discarded, another round of betting takes place. All but one player can fold. If the betting is finished, the players can reveal their cards and choose who will win the pot.
The player who opens the pot is required to show Jacks-or-Better. If the opponent makes a call, the opponent will be given 2:1.
The final round of betting is known as the Showdown. When the players have revealed their hands, the highest unmatched fifth card wins the pot.
If there are more than one player in contention after the final betting round, a side pot is created. This is the extra money bet by the remaining players. This pot is then split equally among all the players.
